If you are looking for a durable yet attractive matting solution, you may wish to consider our aluminum foot grilles or roll-up mats. Under this section, we are discussing aluminum foot grilles or roll-up mats, their function, some of the factors to consider and whether or not this matting system would be appropriate for your particular usage.
Aluminum Foot Grilles are designed for use in a recessed pit application. There are various thicknesses for these foot grilles. An aluminum foot grille can vary from about 3/4" to almost 2" in height or thickness. Some of these foot grilles set on top of a frame under the mat to allow for a drain pan application where inordinate amounts of water or snow may be a consideration. Aluminum foot grilles offer the high tech look that many architects like and are available in a variety of finishes and designs. An aluminum foot grille can be totally manufactured out of aluminum or more likely will be outfitted with some sort of carpet insert to allow for soil and moisture retention. The aluminum portion of the matting can be finished with an anodizing process that allows for different colors or have a mill finish that is basically the color of natural aluminum. In some instances, the mats can also be manufactured out of stainless steel or solid bronze. It all depends upon the look that the architect is searching for.
The carpet inserts can accent the metal finish of the mats by offering a contrasting or complementing color scheme. These carpet inserts are generally nylon, but they can also be made from a polypropylene as well. The aluminum foot grille and roll-up mats can also have inserts that are a poured adhesive, made out of vinyl or even out of a brush-like material. Each of the inserts are available in a variety of colors and textures.
Aluminum roll-up mats offer the same high tech look, are available in the same finishes and inserts, but are hinged to allow the mat to be rolled up for cleaning. The aluminum roll-up mats vary in thickness between 1/2" and 3/4". Either thickness can be utilized in a recessed application. The 1/2" thick roll-ups can also be outfitted with a reducer edge to allow for use in a surface application.
