Recessed Floor Mats can be outfitted with different types of inserts to accomplish specific objectives. Carpet inserts are designed for interior use and help to absorb moisture from shoes before it can be tracked into a building. The Polypropylene Brush Inserts do not offer great moisture retention, but do offer a sperior "brushing" action to help scrape sand, salt and mud from incoming traffic.

The Polypopylene Brush Inserts are recommened for exterior use. Foot Grilles with Polypropylene brush inserts can also be used inside when the aluminum foot grilles will be followed by some sort of absorbent floor mats or carpeting. Other foot grille insert types are the Serrated Aluminum, Peak Vinyl and Vinyl Abrasive Inserts.

An aluminum foot grille mat can also be outfitted with alternating inserts called Varistrip. One version utilizing alternating carpet inserts and serrated aluminum treads can be viewed below. The purpose of this design is to offer a 2-step cleaning design into the recessed floor mat. The result is that the recessed foot grilles will be able to absorb and scrape mud and dirt from shoes BEFORE it gets tracked into the building. Sand, dirt and mud drop to the bottom of the foot grilles in a confined and localized area. Recessed Foot Grilles are available in standard or deep pit designs. The standard load rating for aluminum foot grilles is 300Ib./ wheel rolling load.

Grate shall be Perfec Grate - specify no.__, specift tread insert __. Tread rails shall be 6063-T52 aluminum spaced 1-1/2" on center and secured with keylock bars on 6' centers, both mechanically locked and welded in place for maxium strength.

Aluminum Foot Grilles are often specified by Designers and Architects because of their high tech looks, durability and performance. Foot Grilles can be recessed in very deep pits to allow for drains where large volumes of water are anticipated. Recessed mats like the Aluminum Foot Grilles are available with Carpet Inserts, Polypropylene Brush Inserts, Peak Vinyl Inserts, Vinyl Abrasive Inserts or in a Serrated Aluminum floor mat. The metal portion of the foot grille and frames is offered in six anodized colors or in a standard mill finish.

Aluminum Foot Grilles are generally very durable. It is not uncommon for a recessed foot grille mat to last for decades.
