In the grand scheme of your home's design, the garage makes a statement about the homeowner. Garage mats, Garage tiles and Garage carpeting can play a major part in making first impressions. Does your garage make a positive impression? Is your garage flooring clean and crisp in appearance or is it somewhat lacking? There are many ways in which to upgrade the appearance of your garage with regard to the choice of garage flooring utilized.
Garage floor mats are quick, simple to install, easy to maintain and are not necessarily permanent. The most common size of garage matting is the 7.5' x 17', however, custom size garage mats up to 10' wide and 40' in length can be achieved. Garage matting has roll widths of 7.5, 8', 9' and 10' wide. The variable widths and lengths available allow for a variety of garage matting sizes. Garage mats can be customized onsite with the use of a razor knife and are not very difficult to cut. Garage matting is usually available in three thicknesses with the thicker gauges of garage mats offering the greatest level of durability.
Another popular Garage Floor Covering type are Garage Floor Tiles. Garage tiles are usually offered in an interlocking tile design so large areas can be covered quickly . Garage Floor Tiles are available in 1/4" Solid tiles and also 1/2" Interlocking Tiles with a variety of patterns and colors from which to choose. Generally speaking, the solid garage floor tiles offer the greatest durability. Some of the solid garage tiles, offer 30 year warranties and can withstand rolling load capacities of up to 50,000 lbs. Solid interlocking garage tiles can even withstand metal wheels and fork lift traffic.
Without doubt, most homeowners who opt to go with interlocking garage tile floor covering, opt for the 1/2" thick tiles. The primary reason is cost. The 1/2" Interlocking Garage Tiles are a molded PVC or polypropylene product with "voids" or spaces on the underside of the tile. These voids reduce the amount of "plastic" necessary produce the interlocking tile which results in lower costs. On the downside, the voids lower the durability and stability of this type of garage tile. While still very tough, it is possible for the garage tiles to be damaged should a concentrated force be applied (i.e., dropping of a heavy engine part like an alternator, etc.) to the part of the interlocking tile with a void on the underside.
A growing niche product of the garage floor covering sector is the advent of garage carpeting. Garage Carpet is somewhat of a misnomer, as the material that garage carpeting is made from is usually a heavy duty polypropylene. It is popular in use as a commercial entrance matting due to its durability, ease of maintenance, ability to dry quickly, clean off shoes before mud and moisture can be tracked in, and finally the ability to offer customized logos or designs. The primary garage carpeting that we offer is the Piazza / Sandtrap product. It is readily available in 6', 6'7", 12' and 13'2" wide rolls up to 100' in length. Utilizing the "tight ribbed" version of this garage floor covering allows for one piece to tightly butt up to another piece to offer a virtually nonexistent seam. The needle punched construction of our garage carpeting allows for the material to be easily cut with a razor knife with no risk of unraveling.
Custom garage flooring with logos and designs can be achieved using our "custom inlay process" for the garage carpet where the design is essentially cut into the base color utilizing waterjet technology or supersonic vibrating blades that allow for intricate designs and sizes to be achieved. The "pieces" or different colors of the garage carpeting material are then assembled like a puzzle and a stationary backing is then applied to hold the design in place. You can now let your imagination roam to produce a design that is truly one of a kind and know that your custom garage flooring will be able to perform and look great while doing so.
Custom designs are just that, custom and need to be produced.
